Sylvia Onorina (Spallone) Parmeggiani a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away in Brockton on Friday January 9, 2026. She was the beloved wife of over 64 years to Ascanio G. Parmeggiani and the loving mother to Anthony Parmeggiani and wife Deb of Stoughton, Steven Parmeggiani and wife Dawn of Taunton and Joseph Parmeggiani and wife Nicole of Halifax. Other survivors include her cherished 8 grandchildren, Michela, Nico, Marisa, Michael, Vanessa, Alissandra, Lilianna, Antonio, her 1 great-grandchild Landon and her 2 brothers, Joseph Spallone and wife Barbara of Florida and Raymond Spallone and wife Carol of Barnstable. Sylvia was also a sister to the late Esther Vitrano and her late husband Ralph.
Sylvia was born November 12, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Yole (Corsi) Spallone. Sylvia met the love of her life in January of 1962, when Ascanio came from Italy to visit his aunt in Newton, MA. The day they met he remembered she was wearing a blue sweater and was with her mother and sister. They were engaged and married within 3 months. They originally lived in Hyde Park until they built a house in Stoughton where they raised their 3 boys. Nonna was deeply dedicated to her family. She loved cooking for friends and family. She was known especially for her meatballs and sauce, chicken wings and pizza fritta. Many nights you would find her playing scopa with Nonno and loved to tell us that she had beaten him, or in her favorite chair reading. She also looked forward to her Thursday night dinners with her grandkids. Nonna loved her holidays and traditions with her family and passed them on to her children and grandchildren.
She attended Boston Public Schools. Sylvia was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She was also employed for many years as a Dietician at the former New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton.
Visiting hours for Sylvia will be held on Thursday January 15, 2026, from 5p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Mrs. Parmeggiani's funeral will be held from the Sheehan Funeral Home on Friday January 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in tbe Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, (Rt. 27) Stoughton. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, (456 High Street) Canton.
