Sandra M. (McGuigan) Medeiros, a longtime resident of Stoughton passed away at her home on Sunday April 21, 2024. She was 84 years old and the beloved wife of over 65 years to the late Rudolph “Rudy” Medeiros. Sandy was the loving mother to Michael Medeiros and his wife Regina of Lakeville, MA, Dennis Medeiros and his wife Donna of Stoughton, MA, Robert Medeiros of Martinez, GA, Kevin Medeiros and his wife Sheila of Kingston, MA, Diane Medeiros and her husband Jay Warren of Marietta, GA and Rick Devitt and his wife Christi of Apple Valley, CA. She was also the cherished grandmother to Rachel Medeiros, the late Patrick Medeiros, Brianna (Medeiros) Aldebeh, Erycha Medeiros, Kacey Medeiros, Chelsea Medeiros, Kayla Medeiros, Danica Medeiros and Jobi Medeiros. Other survivors include her greatgranddaughters Adalyn Aldabeh, MacKenzie Ruiz and Charlotte Aldabeh. Born on June 27, 1939, in Fall River, Massachusetts Sandy was daughter to the late John McGuigan and Etta (Harrington) McGuigan [Quinn]. Sandy was an incredibly dedicated and talented member of the Easton Garden Club. Her commitment to the club's projects, from providing greens for the Christmas Fair to designing centerpieces for Oliver Ames High School's Sports Banquets, demonstrated her passion for gardening and community involvement. Her participation in various organizations and events, such as the Rhododendron, Rose, and Succulent Society, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the MFA Art in Bloom, and the Boston Flower Show, highlighted her broad range of interests and expertise in horticulture and floral design. Sandy's contributions have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on both the Easton Garden Club and the wider community. Sandy's leadership in Family and Community Education (FCE) showcased her dedication to not only gardening but also to broader community initiatives. Her leadership roles, including past president of both the Norfolk County Council of FCE and the Massachusetts Association for Family and Community Education, illustrate her commitment to advancing the missions of these organizations at both the local and state levels. Moreover, her contributions extended nationally, as demonstrated by her role as the past Eastern Region Public Policy Coordinator on the National Board of the National Association for Family and Community Education. Her engagement in advocating for policies that benefit families and communities on a larger scale meant countless hours and frequent visits to beacon Hill lobbying policymakers. Additionally, Sandy's participation on various committees for National FCE Conferences underscores her willingness to contribute her time and expertise to the broader FCE community, further solidifying her reputation as a proactive and engaged member. Overall, Sandy's multifaceted involvement in FCE reflected her passion for community building and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of people. As a particularly generous, creative, talented and caring person she tried to encourage and help every individual she met. If we all cared as much as she there would not be homeless or hungry people in the world.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday May 19, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Sheehan, Lowe and Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Funeral prayers will be offered on Monday morning May 20, 2024 morning at 10a.m in the funeral home. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. Sandy will also be laid to rest on Monday May 20, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veteran’s National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. (NOTE:FUNERAL PROCESSION WILL BE LEAVING THE FUNERAL HOME PROMPTLY AT 11 A.M.)
