Roger Armstrong Forde a longtime resident of Stoughton, MA passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was 89 years old. Roger was born April 7, 1935, in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Marguerite Forde and his brother Kenneth Forde and former spouse Anne C. (Brunke) Forde.
Roger graduated from Milton High School in 1953. He served in the Armed Forces of The National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He worked for Bowne of Boston in South Boston for over 33 years (a company that provided financial, corporate and multimedia printing services). He started as an offset printer and worked his way up to senior management. He retired in 1997.
Roger’s favorite pastimes included traveling, camping, hobby trains, dancing, and just a general love of the outdoors. He was always known to be the man puttering around and could build and pretty much fix anything he put his hands on. For the past 25 years Roger and Virginia also loved to travel for 6 months a year to their campsite in Florida to be with their fellow "Snowbird" friends.
Survived by his beloved partner, Virginia Field of Stoughton MA. Also survived by his 8 children: Deborah DiCarlo and her partner David Noyes of New Durham, NH, Sandra Forde of Poland Springs, ME, Lawrence Forde and his wife Denise of Manchester, NH, Lisa Murphy and her husband Kevin of Weymouth, MA, Michelle Forde and her partner James Arlia of Cranston RI, Roger Andrew Forde of Quincy MA, Simone Forde of Quincy, MA, David Forde and his wife Kellie of Weymouth, MA. Also survived by his former spouse, Elizabeth Forde of Quincy, MA. Other survivors include his 6 grandchildren who lovingly called him “Bop Bop” EJ, Chelsea, Lauren, Ryan, Matthew, and Jacob, also his 2 great grandchildren, and 2 nephews. Roger will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
