Richard Forrest Perkins, a lifelong resident of Avon, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Wednesday December 17, 2008. He was 67 years old. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Carol A. ( Wallace ) Perkins and the loving father of Jeanette A. Cassidy and her husband Robert of Hudson, New Hampshire, Pamela M. Swenson and her husband Thomas Of Avon and Annmarie Derochea of East Bridgewater. Other survivors include his two brothers Robert Perkins and his wife Celeste of Dunedin, Florida, George Perkins and his wife Sandra of Goodyear, Arizona, his seven grandchildren, Corporal Thomas Joseph Swenson Jr. USMC, Andrew R. Swenson , Daniel A. Swenson all of Avon, Evan Derochea, Caleb Derochea, Taryn Derochea all of East Bridgewater, Matthew A. Cassidy of Hudson, New Hampshire and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother to the late Gloria Kennedy.
Born March 19, 1941 in Stoughton, Massachusetts Richard was a cherished son of the late Eldon Perkins and Natalie ( Leathers ) Perkins. He attended Stoughton Public Schools and Stoughton High School. Mr. Perkins was employed as a Materials Handler by the Polaroid Corporation for twenty years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and trips to Foxwoods. He was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2008 from 4 - 7 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. A funeral service and celebration of Richard's life will be held at 6:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 in Richard's memory, would be appreciated.
