Obituary

Ruth U. Scrivens, a long-time resident of Stoughton passed away on May 17, 2025. She was 99 years old and the beloved wife of the late Robert K. Scrivens. Ruth was the loving mother of Kathleen C. Mall of Brewster, MA and the late David Scrivens. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Jeremy Mall and his fiance Gabrielle Bruno of Orlando, FL, Victoria Sellito and her husband Michael of Harwich, MA and Stephanie Hickey and her husband Craig of New Bedford, MA. Other survivors include her great- granddaughter Gypsy Mall of Altamonte, FL, her great-grandson Joshua Ayers of Harwich, MA and her great-great grandson lzaiah Balbuena of FL.

Born November 15, 1925, in New York, New York, Ruth was a daughter to the late William Ulrich and Lilian M. (Billings) Ulrich. Her hobbies included reading, rug hooking, gardening, stamp and coin collecting and square dancing. Mrs. Scrivens worked for 19 years as a bookkeeper, insurance clerk and was a receptionist for two OB/GYN doctors. She had previously been a Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader and a Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer at the former First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Stoughton. Ruth was also a member and Treasurer of the Stoughton Women's Club and a volunteer at the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton, the former Blue Hills Nursing home in Stoughton, the Copley at Stoughton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and she was a dedicated poll worker for many years in the Town of Stoughton. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
