Peter J. Knippenberg

Peter J.  Knippenberg, entered into rest on July 5, 2019 at the age of 71.  He was the son of Frank I. and Emma (Waleson) Knippenberg.  He was the beloved husband of Gail S. (Rivetz) Knippenberg and the devoted father of Andrew Knippenberg of Hoboken, NJ.  Peter was the dear brother of Frank F. Knippenberg of Sandwich, MA, Helene Illston of Dennis, MA, and Kenneth Knippenberg of Taunton, MA.

Peter was born September 16, 1947 in The Hague, Netherlands.  At the age of 9, he and his family emigrated to Massachusetts and settled in Dorchester.  Once graduating high school, Peter joined the US Air Force during the Vietnam era.  After completion of his military service, he went to East Coast Aero Technical School, where he learned his trade of being an aircraft mechanic working for the US Army at Fort Devens.  In 2007, he retired from the US Army.  

During his retirement, he was always working on a project.  He enjoyed building and fixing up his home.  His other passions included listening to music and watching movies.  He will be missed by all those who knew him.

There will be a memorial service held at the Sheehan Funeral Home in Stoughton, MA on July 11, 2019 at 11:00am. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to the National Emphysema Foundation, 128 East St., Norwalk, CT 06851.
