Michael Peter Obituary

Michael Peter, 64, of Stoughton, MA passed away on Tuesday April 25th 2023 of natural causes.

Michael was born in Boston on June 29th 1958 to the late Patricia (Walsh) and Gerhard Peter, both of Stoughton. Beloved father of Stephanie Peter and her husband Rob Farraher of Boston, and adored grandfather to Keenan Farraher. Cherished brother of Kathleen Denneno and her husband Mark of Bridgewater, the late Edward Peter and his wife Laurel of North Attleboro, and Lawrence Peter and his wife Robie of Mansfield. He was a loving uncle to Daniel Peter and his wife Bethany, Alex Denneno, Matthew Peter, Kevin Peter, and Samantha Peter.

Michael began his career working at Bank of Boston, but soon realized office life wasn’t for him. He left and began driving a canteen truck route, which is how he spent most of his career. He worked hard from morning til night, and enjoyed serving his customers, and listening to endless hours of sports radio in between stops. He never missed a basketball, baseball, or football game, and could tell you every player on every Celtics roster for the last 50 years.

He was a music lover at heart and all that knew him knew that he was Bob Dylan’s biggest fan. He loved John Prine, and Nick Drake, and Tom Waits and countless others. He loved to share music and movie recommendations, and even volunteered as an usher at the Orpheum Theater in Boston so that he could see all the live music he wanted .

Though he was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend, there was no role he excelled at more than that of Dad to his daughter Stephanie. He adored her from the moment she was born, and took so much joy in showering her with love.

Michael was known for his endless amounts of optimism, and his unmatched generosity. He would far prefer to go without (and often did) in order to make someone else’s life better. He had a smile on his face even during the worst of his health struggles. He took so little, and gave so so much. He will be missed immensely.
