Mary M. Currivan

Mary Martha (Monahan) Currivan passed away on Saturday March 22, 2025, in Attleboro, MA.

She was born on January 20, 1929, in Stoughton, Massachusetts to the late Joseph and Mary (Kelleher) Monahan. Mary attended St. Mary’s Grammar School.  She graduated from Mount St. Joseph’s Academy in 1946, Simmons College in 1950 and also received her master’s degree from Boston University. 

Mary married Robert C. Currivan in 1963 and moved to Mansfield, Massachusetts. Mary had been a schoolteacher in Stoughton Public Schools. She taught grades 1 through 8 and later was made Principal. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and was a member of their Catholic Women’s Club. Mary is survived by her two children, Donald J. Currivan and wife Marie N. Chehade of West Springfield, MA and Mary Joyce of Mansfield, MA. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Kyle Joyce and wife Amanda, Sara Currivan and Leah Currivan. 

After enjoying over 56 years of marriage to Robert with whom she did a great deal of traveling, Mary became an avid reader, follower of politics, golf and football. She will be remembered for her kindness and loving heart. She will be truly missed by her family. 

Mary’s funeral mass will be held on Saturday April 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Main Entrance off Franklin Street) Mansfield. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.
