Loretta T. (Constantine) Burns a longtime resident of Stoughton, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away in Norwood on Thursday April 22, 2021. She was 80 years old and the beloved wife of over 60 years to Thomas J. Burns. She was the loving mother of Jeanne Bergdoll of Stoughton,MA, Denise Palermo and her husband Peter of N. Kingstown, RI, Kathleen Gonatas and her husband Dean of Plainville,MA and Thomas D. Burns and his wife Sharon of Norfolk,MA. Other survivors include her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Nicole, Stephanie, Megan, Alex, Jason, Ryan, Emma, her great-grandchild David and her loving brother William. She was also a sister to the late Robert, Jack, Richard and Mary Roberta.
Born October 3, 1940 in Cambridge, Massachusetts Loretta was a daughter to the late William J. and Mary A. (Conway) Constantine. She was a 1959 graduate of Roslindale High School and continued her education at Tufts University, Wheelock College and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Mrs. Burns retired after a 30 plus year career in Social Work which began at the Massachusetts Office for Children and culminated at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton where she served as a fierce and devoted advocate for children. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 29, 2021 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. NOTE: SOCIAL DISTANCING AND FACIAL COVERINGS OF SOME TYPE REQUIRED AND MA STATE MANDATES REGARDING COVID - 19 PROTOCOL ARE STILL IN EFFECT. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 30, 2021 at 11A.M. from the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Stoughton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
