Harold Ransom Obituary

Harold E. Ransom passed away peacefully on 1/23/23 after 94 extraordinary years of life. Born on June 9, 1928 to Renee and Harold King and later adopted by Edward Ransom, Harold grew up in Watertown, MA where he lived with his 5 siblings. In 1945 he joined the US Navy, serving as Radarman during WWII for 8 years and earned the Victory Medal for his service. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University before becoming employed by the Boston Gas Company where he worked for 45 years, starting as a Meter Reader and retiring as a Draftsman Engineer in 1993. He met the love of his life, Elsie, roller skating in 1951, married her in 1952 and became a devoted and loving husband of 69 years until his sweetheart's passing in 2011. Harold was the proud father of 6 children and spent most of his life devoted to their happiness and well- being. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and loved ones. He was an avid nature enthusiast and was often found fishing, camping or hiking in the woods of Maine and inspired all who met him to appreciate all living creatures. After retirement, his other hobbies included building authentic museum quality model ships which are proudly displayed in his children's houses. He also enjoyed puzzles, reading, sketching and taking care of himself and his family. In addition to many friends and relatives, Harold leaves behind his adoring children Carolyn Ransom; Edward Ransom; Jacqueline Bragel and her husband, Joseph; Christina Walsh and her husband, Matthew and Renee Nogueira and her husband, Steven. He joins his daughter, Kathleen Ransom who preceded his death. He also leaves behind his 10 wonderful grandchildren, Paul McBride, Alex Haffer, Angela Griffith, Aaron Griffith, Kimberly Griffith, Christopher Bragel, Rebecca Caruso, Emily Walsh, Katheryn Nogueira and Steven Nogueira and his beloved great-grandchildren Katelyn, Brielle, Desta and Teagan who will be forever guided by his amazing spirit. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday January 28, 2023 in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the funeral service Harold will be laid to rest with military funeral honors beside his loving wife, Elsie, and daughter, Kathleen in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA.
