HELENE R. O'BRIEN

Helene (Hughes) O'Brien, a longtime resident of Stoughton, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday July 28, 2023, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband William O'Brien Sr.;her father Clifford Hughes and her mother Helene Hughes; her brothers William Hughes and Clifford Hughes and sister Shirley Crosby. She is survived by her brother Allan Hughes and by her 9 children including her daughters: Helene Messina, Catherine O'Brien, Teresa Nutile, Mary Frost, Marjorie O'Brien, Martha Raimo, Elizabeth Van Zile, Valerie O'Brien and her son, William O'Brien, Jr.;18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family all of whom she loved very much. Helene previously lived in Baltimore, Maryland; Providence, Rhode Island and Arlington, MA where she graduated high school in 1950. Helene once drove for the Somerville Cab Co. and later finished her working career as a bookkeeper for the United States Postal Service. Helene leaves behind the many friends she made through her volunteer activities and her participation in the Red Hat Society and the Stoughton Recreation Department's ceramics program. Funeral arrangements are private at the request of the family.
