Esther (“Sissy”) M Andrews (Hirtle) (Grant) 86, of Raynham, MA, formerly of Randolph, MA. After a very long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and 8 months apart from the love of her life, she could no longer be away from her “Charlie” and they were peacefully reunited in heaven on April 29, 2022.
Born in 1935 at home in Randolph to Russell and Stella May Hirtle. She was raised by her father’s aunt and uncle, Roy and Emma Grant, after the passing of her birth mother when she was 5. In her youth, she worked at Randolph Rubber Company in Randolph, MA, making “Randy” brand sneakers. She waitressed at IHOP in Randolph and at Copeland Farms in Milton. She met her forever sweetheart while waitressing at Copeland Farms where she switched tables with a coworker so she could wait on “the handsome soldier who came in his uniform.” They went on to marry in 1953. Married for 68 years, they were always together every step of their journey as they raised their four daughters, Linda, Sharon, Charlene, and Eleanor, as well as their grandchildren, and great grandchildren
Aside from her witty, stubborn ways and sarcastic comments, she will be remembered for the never-ending love she had for her family, especially her husband. In her younger days, she loved roller skating and taking dance lessons, both tap and ballet. Throughout the years she enjoyed playing bingo and casino games, cheating at cards, spending time with family, watching old comedy shows, especially “I Love Lucy” and her beloved “Wheel of Fortune,” betting on # 3 at any race track, tapping her foot along to band stand music, having her hair done at the “beauty parlor”, reading “Readers Digest” and her beloved “National Enquirer” Magazines, crossword puzzles, setting off the fire alarm when making dinners so we always knew when dinner was "ready", going out to dinner as much as possible, attempting to make brownies and cookies for us without burning them, whipping up Jello with fruit cocktail mixed in or a batch of her secret recipe cole slaw, eating ice cream by the half gallon right from the box, and her never-ending love for coffee 24/7.
She will be forever missed by her daughters Charlene “Chuckie” Robinson and husband, Mark, of New York and Eleanor Andrews of Raynham, MA. Her grandson, Charles A. da Silva and wife, Amanda, of Rhode Island. 8 great grandchildren: Karl, Kylee, Kristopher, Kolten, Italia, Catarina, Madalena and Giovanna. Nephews: Brian, Michael and Chad Andrews. Nieces: Jennifer DiGiorgio, Alana Andrews and Keri Labadie. Brother- in- law, Robert Andrews and wife, Mary, of Arizona.
She has been reunited with her husband, Charles H. Andrews, Jr.; daughters, Linda M. Andrews and Sharon L. da Silva; her brothers, David, Mearl and Robert Grant and Frank “Hank” Hirtle. Her granddaughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Andrews. Her beloved brothers-in-law, Paul T. and John F. Andrews Sisters-in-law, Ann and Madeline Andrews
