Edward Francis McCormack, 81, of Brockton MA, passed away Monday, July 15th, 2024. His past residences also included Weymouth, Medway, Newton MA, and Brooklyn, NY.
He was born June 17th, 1943, in Cambridge MA to Joseph F McCormack and Agnes (Bridgett) T McCormack (McDonough). He was an altar boy and student at the Parish of Saint Bernards and started working as a caddy at Brae Burn Country Club in Newton at an early age which gave him a solid work ethic and many connections that helped him throughout his life. He was always very grateful for his time there. Ed attended Newton North High School, and Newton Junior College and went on to graduate from Boston University with his Master's Education with further work in Therapy, Hypnosis, NLP, Edu-K, and Energy work.
He worked 42 years with the VA Hospitals in various locations (Brockton. Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, New Bedford, and Brooklyn NY) overseeing the Physical, Occupational, and Kinesiotherapy areas of rehabilitation of spinal cord injury patients. He was instrumental in championing the aquatic, driving, and skiing programs. As well as serving as Santa on many occasions for the West Roxbury annual holiday parties.
In his earlier years, you would find him skiing, camping, and hiking in New Hampshire, or on the golf course here in Massachusetts. In recent years he has enjoyed many a book and would be considered an avid reader, he has been involved in the Brockton Council on Aging and enjoyed playing cribbage, mahjong, and cards with his friends there.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Joseph F McCormack and Agnes T McCormack, his sister Kathy Boyle (McCormack), and his former wife Nancy McCormack (Wilder).
He is survived by his two daughters Heather McCormack of Brockton, and Amy Fallon (McCormack) of Brockton, and his four grandchildren Drew, Brittney, Kityara, and Adam. As well as his former wife Johanna Gill and stepson Todd Bernard.
Per his wishes, there will be no wake or funeral. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to any of the below charities in his name.
