Antonio S. “Tony” Resendes “The Jokester” and resident of Stoughton for over 24 years, formerly of
Brockton passed away at home on Wednesday July 1, 2020. He was 57 years old and the beloved
husband of over 35 years to Lucia M. (Moreira) Resendes. Other survivors include his loving children,
Geoffrey Resendes and wife Kylie of Norton, Jessica (Resendes) Rebelo and husband Jason of Raynham,
Jennifer Resendes of Holbrook, Julie Resendes of Leominster, Gina Resendes and fiance’ Maycol “Mike”
of Winchendon, his two brothers, Manuel Resendes and wife Maria of Canada, Joao Resendes and wife
Lucia of Woburn, his sister Ana Claudino and husband Luis of Waltham, nieces and nephews, and his six
grandchildren, Cristiano, Tiago, Kilian, Jeriana, Zhavia and Preston.
Born November 8, 1962 in Santa Maria, Acores, Portugal Antonio was a son to the late Joao Resendes
and Maria Luis (Sousa) Resendes. He was employed as a laborer with Amtrak for over 13 years. He
attended and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. A true “Family
Man” Tony always put others first, especially his family. He enjoyed camping with his family, running a
small landscaping business with his son and most importantly being a part time babysitter for his beloved
grandchildren. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, attending car shows, flea markets, and
vacationing in his birthplace Santa Maria, Azores. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of
knowing him.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 6, 2020 from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. NOTE: Face Masks and Social
Distancing measures are still being implemented. His funeral mass will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2020
at 10 A.M. from St. James Church, 560 Page St. Stoughton. Funeral procession will be forming at the
funeral home at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday. All are welcome to attend. Services will conclude with burial at
Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
