Alan Douglas Ross a lifetime resident of Stoughton passed away at home on July 10, 2024. He was 64 years old and a son to the late Sonia (Tkachuk) Ross and Benjamin Franklin Ross Jr. He is survived by his siblings, Stephen Ross and his wife Noreen, Gary Ross, David Ross and his sister Anni Gudinas and her husband Paul.
Doug attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. He was a self-employed carpenter. In his younger days, Alan spent several years traveling the country in his brothers 18 wheeler, seeing many sights, meeting new people and enjoying many adventures. He was known for his meticulous finish carpentry work and his passion for refurbishing old furniture. He enjoyed fishing and could often be found on the jetty at Scusset Beach.
Later on, Doug's main passion was hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire. In addition to climbing Mt. Washington every year, he completed 34 of the White Mountains' 48 four thousand footers. His desire was to eventually retire in the North Country.
"Dougie" will be remembered for his big heart, his willingness to help anybody anytime, his quick wit and infectious smile and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a lover of all animals, especially his cats Bob and Buddy.
