Virginia Crowley Obituary

"After our mother Virginia died, as we were going through her papers and notebooks, we found a pad that had some directions for how she wanted to be remembered. No wake. No funeral mass. Instead she'd like us just to have a farewell party and memorial at our sister's home in Bennington, VT.

She even drew a sketch of how she wanted us to set up a table at the party. To the left flowers, to the right, a good picture of her. And in the center she wrote “me.” That’s where we’ll place her urn.

Along with some personal bequests and requests for family, Mom also wrote her obituary. Not formally, but as notes. Her intent was that we edit it, make complete sentences, that kind of thing. But upon reading it, we think it's fine just the way it is.

So we her three children, Barbara Crowley-Carbone of Canton, MA; Tammy Crowley Johnson of Bennington, VT; and Dean Crowley of Shaftsbury VT, would like to share it with you. It lets us remember our mother in her own words.

There you have it, in her own words.

For those wishing to make a donation in Virginia’s memory please consider St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity. She would give $50.00 two or three times a year, said the  $50 represented $10 for each of her grandkids."
