Norma Sidebottom Obituary

Norma (Leathers) Sidebottom, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away at home on Wednesday March 28, 2018. She was 91 years old and the beloved wife of the late John O. Sidebottom who passed in 2010’. Her survivors include her two children, John Earle Sidebottom and his wife Kathy of Taunton, Kathy Ann Gillcrist and her husband Paul of Toccoa, GA, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was also a sister to the late PFC Earle B. Leathers.

Born December 26, 1926 in Stoughton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter to the late William Harold Leathers and Cora Leathers. Norma attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Edward Connors American National Insurance Agency for over 20 years. Norma was a very active member and volunteer at The First Parish Universalist Unitarian Church in Stoughton. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the Girl Scouts, The International Order of Rainbow Girls and the Stoughton Historical Society. Norma will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visiting hours to which all are invited to attend will be held on Friday April 6, 2018 from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. A funeral service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in The First Parish Universalist Unitarian Church, 790 Washington Street, Stoughton. The Rev. Sarah Napoline, officiating. Cremation will follow and her burial will be held in the family lot at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s memory can be made to either The First Parish Universalist Unitarian Church, 790 Washington Street, Stoughton,MA 02072 or Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
