Maria C (Alves) Pestana

Maria C. (Alves) Pestana a resident of Stoughton for over 49 years passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with her loving family by her side on Thursday June 8, 2017. She was the beloved wife of over 55 years to John G. Pestana. Her survivors include her loving children, John Pestana, Ines (Pestana) Allen and Linda Pestana all of Stoughton, her brothers, Francisco Alves of Stoughton, Domingo Viera of Venezuela, her sister Matilda Andrade of Stoughton, her 5 grandchildren, Johnnie Pestana, Bradford Allen, Francis Pestana, Caitlin Pestana, Daniel Pestana and her best friend Margarida (Guida) Spinola. Other survivors include many godchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Born May 28, 1944 in Madeira, Portugal , Maria was a daughter born to the late Jose’ Viera Alves and Maria Correia daCerca. Mrs. Pestana was employed by the former J.W. Elastic Webb Company in Stoughton, Boston Envelope and the Marshalls Store. She attended and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Her hobbies included gardening and planting flowers. She was also a proud member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. She spent all her spare time with her beloved husband, children, grandchildren and friends. She was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 11, 2017 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton . Her funeral will be held on Monday June 12, 2017 at 9 A.M. from the funeral home followed by a Mass Of Christian Burial for the repose of her soul at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton. The Pastor Rev. Joseph Mazzone, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
