Kathleen E. “Kay” (Maguire) McCann of Foxboro, formerly a resident of Stoughton for over 35 years, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with a long term illness on Saturday January 6, 2018. She was 84 years old and the beloved wife of the late John M. McCann. Cherished mother of Catherine E. “Katie” McCann of Norwood, MA, John M. McCann II and his wife Lisa of Foxboro, MA and Thomas M. McCann of Derry, NH. Adored grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Courtney, Nicholas and Caroline. Other survivors include her two sisters, Rosaleen Close of Canton, MA, Eileen Verderico of Roslindale, MA, her brother Emmett A. Maguire of Seminole, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was also a sister to the late Patrick Maguire and Mary A. O'Brien.

Born March 22, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, Kay was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Clancy) Packenham. She graduated from Roslindale High in 1950. She was retired from working for the Town of Stoughton for over 25 years. She was the Assistant Town Clerk, served on many town committees and also worked for the Stoughton Public Library. During this time and for over 35 years she was also an Avon Lady! She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She will be remembered for her wit, her strong will, her intelligence and interest in politics and current events. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home and then proceed to the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Stoughton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen’s memory to the Foxboro Food Pantry, 35 Neponset Ave, Foxboro, MA 02035 or The ARC of Greater Plymouth, 52 Armstrong Rd., Plymouth, MA 02360 would be appreciated.
