James M.”Whitey” White, a long time resident of Stoughton and United States Army Veteran, passed away at home on Saturday, December 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was 80 years old and the beloved husband of Ann M. (Hegarty) White. He was the loving father of Kathy M. Hart and husband Dan of Sagamore Beach, Tricia A. Elassy and husband Ramzi of Natick, Daniel J. Bryan and wife Semona of Stoughton, and William J. Bryan and his late wife Janet of Norton. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Ashley, Stephanie, Katelyn, Ali, Mia, Hannah, and Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Pine and nephew, Brian Pine both of Somerville
Born September 10, 1938 in Somerville, Massachusetts, Jim was the loving son of the late John J. White and Mary E. (Parker) White. He attended Somerville public schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Jimmy was employed in the transportation industry as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines for over 25 years. He was also a delivery driver for Anton's Cleaners for over 10 years. Mr. White proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of PVT. He was a communicant and member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton where he was a former usher for many years. Jim was also a long time member of the K of C Council #200 in Stoughton and a member of the Amvets Post #1977 in Stoughton. He enjoyed cruises to Bermuda and Jamaica and taking trips to various locations with the Seniors of Stoughton. Scratch tickets, playing the lottery and enjoying an occasional cigarette and Budweiser were some of his most enjoyable hobbies.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe and Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services 155 Monk St, Stoughton. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St, Rt 27, Stoughton. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations to the St. Anthony’s Free Market Food Pantry in care of the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St, Stoughton, MA 02072 in Jimmy’s memory would be appreciated.
