Edgar J Melanson

Edgar J. Melanson, a resident of Stoughton for over 53 years, passed away after a brief illness at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on Monday June 26, 2017. He was 80 years old and the beloved husband of over 50 years to the late Elizabeth E. (Kenny) Melanson. His survivors include his loving children, Thomas E. Melanson and his wife Deborah of Stoughton, Linda M. Olden and husband Lewis of Middleboro, Teresa Ann Melanson of Stoughton, his brothers, Aurele Melanson C.S.C. and Emery Ovila Melanson both of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, his 5 grandchildren, Chrystina Melanson and Cassandra Melanson both of Stoughton, Kristen Olden, Kimberly Olden and Kaitlyn Olden all of Middleboro and his beloved companion Marie (Daly) Tesoro of Stoughton. He was also a brother to the late Gerald Melanson, Alfred Melanson, Laurie Melanson, Lina Bastarache, Guy Melanson, Antoine Melanson and Adolphe Melanson.

Born April 13, 1937 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada Mr. Melanson was a son to the late William and Roseanna (LeBlanc) Melanson. Ed was employed as a shipper for over 43 years by the former Senior Flextronics Metal Bellows Company. He was a communicant and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. His hobbies included playing cards at the Canton Town Club, swimming at the YMCA in Stoughton and an occasional trip to the Plainridge Casino in Plainville. Ed will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

His Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 6 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 3 – 6 P.M. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. Interment will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to S.A.E.C. ( Stoughton Association of Exceptional Citizens), PO BOX 153, Stoughton,MA 02072 in Ed’s memory, would be appreciated.
