Alexander Joseph “Alex” Galanis of Stoughton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away on Friday July 5, 2019 in Boston. He was 27 years old and the beloved son of Jean M. (Climo) Galanis of Stoughton and Paul E. Galanis,formerly of Stoughton, now of Mansfield. Other survivors include Paul's wife Rosie Galanis and his siblings, Nicholas Paul Galanis, Marcus Galanis, Thomas Galanis, Katie Sexton, Joe Sexton, Will Sexton and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alex was also the cherished grandson of Alice T. Climo and her late husband George A. Climo Jr and the late Barbara Galanis all of Stoughton and a nephew to the late Patricia A. Climo.
Alex was born March 7, 1992 at the Newton - Wellesley Hospital. He attended Mansfield Public Schools and was a 2010' graduate of Mansfield High School. Alex had a true passion for sports. Nicknamed "Rudy" in Pop Warner Football Alex became an outstanding linebacker and special teams player for Mansfield High and played in the 2008' High School Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium. He also wrestled for MHS. Alex left a legacy at Mansfield High as his younger brothers can attest to when they encounter his former teachers who ask " Are you related to Alex......he is so funny".After High school Alex attended Worcester State College. Alex loved Boston sports. He loved Jeopardy and enjoyed his friendly competitions with his grandmother Alice. He was employed at Uno Pizzeria & Grill on Beacon Street near Fenway Park. Alex is probably best known for his quick wit and sense of humor, his smile and an uncanny way of quoting every funny line of all movies.He will be missed a by all who had the pleasure of truly knowing him.
Visiting hours for Alex will be held on Thursday July 11, 2019 from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. A funeral mass for Alex will be held on Friday July 12, 2019 at 11:00 A,M, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 330 Pratt Street, Rt. 106, Mansfield. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. PLEASE NOTE: Funeral procession to the church will be forming at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. and departing the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. Interment will be private.
