Miguel M. Figueiredo “Alfaiate” affectionately known to many as “The Blacksmith” and a resident of Stoughton for over 46 years, passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on Monday February 6, 2017 at the Baypointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brockton. He was 92 years old and the beloved husband of the late Maria Conceicao da Cunha Figueiredo to whom he was married to for over 63 years. His survivors include, his loving children, Madalena Rego and her husband Joao, Ernesto Monteiro, Jose’ L. “Joe” Figueiredo, Irene Faria and her husband Frank all of Stoughton, his brother Alexandre Figueiredo of Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, his 7 grandchildren, 6 great – grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also a loving father to the late Joao da Cunha Monteiro.
Born August 13, 1924 in Sao Pedro, Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, Miguel was one of 15 children born to the late Jose’ Soares Figueiredo and Maria Virginia Monteiro. He was employed as a Laborer for the former American Biltrite Company in Stoughton for many years. He was also a communicant and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Miguel will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visiting hours to which friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday February 10, 2017 from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral will be held on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 9 A.M. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Stoughton. The Rev. Jose’ Eduardo Marques, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
