Jose L Figueiredo

Jose’ L. “JOE” Figueiredo, a resident of Stoughton for over 47 years passed away peacefully after a brief illness in Easton, on Sunday April 30, 2017. He was 58 years old. His survivors include his 2 sisters, Madalena Rego and husband Joao, Irene Faria and husband Frank, and his brother Ernesto Monteiro all of Stoughton. Other survivors include his godmothers Zelia Freitas of Cambridge and Irene da Cunha of Santa Maria, his uncle Alexander Figueiredo of Santa Maria, his goddaughters Susana Monteiro and Sandra Rego and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his very special friend Benita.

Born January 28, 1959 in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal , Jose’ was a beloved son to the late Miguel Monteiro Figueiredo and Maria C. Resendes Cunha. He was employed as a laborer for many years by the former Corcoran Shoe Company in Stoughton and Footjoy Shoe Company in Brockton. He was also a communicant and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Joe was a proud member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. He treasured the memories and friendships formed at The Stoughton Bakery and will be forever grateful for all the time spent watching the New England Patriots football games with his Benita. His hobbies included spending quality time with his family, especially his great nephews Aiden and Dylan. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visiting hours to which friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend will be held on Thursday May 4, 2017 from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Flowers are welcome.
