Ellis Curtis Smith a resident of Randolph for over twenty years, formerly of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of VNA Hospice on Saturday May 14, 2016. He was 74 years old and the beloved husband of over 52 years to Mary (Isbell )“Betsy” Smith. Ellis was also the loving father to Laura Leslie Smith of Randolph, Major Ellis Howard Smith, II (Sam) U.S Army, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia and James Andrews Isbell Smith and his wife Ashley Modell Smith of Woodbridge, Virginia. He was also the cherished grandfather of Alice Margaret Smith, and Jackson James Smith both of Woodbridge,VA. Other survivors include his niece Meredith Alice “Meri” Bowman of Dudley, MA and his nephew James F. Bowman, III of Taunton. Ellis was also the loving brother to the late Diane Bowman.
Born December 5, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts. Ellis was a son to the late Ellis Howard Smith and Alice (Curtis) Smith. He attended Stoughton Public Schools and graduated from Stoughton High School. He later attended Bentley College and received a B.S. degree in Accounting and also attended The University of Chicago where he proudly earned his M.B.A. Mr. Smith was employed for many years as the Chief Financial Officer at CNF Industries and at Villeaux Enterprises both in Meriden,CT. and later at Ficon Industries in Washington,D.C.
Mr. Smith was a proud member of the Mayflower Society and Alden Kindred in Plymouth, MA. He enjoyed taking day trips with his family and was a Mason and proud past Master of Centre Lodge in Meriden, CT. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
