Corporal Christopher John Ayers, a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Gulf War and a 23 year resident of Stoughton, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton. He was 49 years old and the beloved husband of over 24 years to Donna J. (Lloyd) Ayers of Stoughton. He was a cherished father to Morgan Ayers, Rhiannon Ayers and Liam Ayers, all of Stoughton. Other survivors include his loving parents, Kathleen Knorr, John Ayers and Francine Ayers, his siblings, Stephen F. Ayers and his wife Ronica of New Albany, Ohio, Kara L. Ayers and her husband Andrew Virostek of Lakeville, MA, Seann W. Ayers and his wife Monica Berumen of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas N. Hughes of Portland, Maine, Kellie J. Hughes and her husband Richad Salmendjee of Riverview, Florida and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Ayers was born on June 4, 1968 at the Fort Belvoir Army Base in Virginia. Corporal Ayers proudly served his country during the Gulf War as a Sniper with the 1st Marines 2nd Battalion and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He later attended The University of Baltimore and attained his B.A. Degree in Accounting. He was a CPA for several accounting firms throughout his working career. Chris loved to cook, and spend quality time with his family. He also cherished his Sunday morning football games at the Chemung Hill School Field in Stoughton. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. “Semper Fi”.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 14, 2017 from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M. from the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral service will be held on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Veterans Administration Hospital located at 940 Belmont Street, Brockton. The Rev. Dr. Jack Simpson, officiating. NOTE: FUNERAL PROCESSION WILL BE FORMING AT THE FUNERAL HOME AT 12:00 NOON ON SATURDAY FOR THE PROCESSION TO THE CHAPEL. All are welcome to attend. Burial with military honors will immediately follow the chapel services at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Town of Stoughton Veteran’s Service Office, C/O Veteran’s Agent Mike Pazyra, 10 Pearl Street, Stoughton,MA 02072 in Chris’s memory, would be appreciated.
